Claude El Skorrari
Composition #15 - elongated tracheae
Composition #16 - coiled tracheae
The definite sound source of composition #15 & #16 is not proven, but, according to friends, Skorrari was obsessed with listening to birds and spent a lot of time not only observing local species in their habitats, but also looking at the concept of unique migrant groups - especially the crane familiy -
while trying to imitate their cries. It is said that Skorarri even considered surgical alteration of the vocal chords to enable mimicking of their sounds.
Claude El Skorrari's sound archive was destroyed in a flood. The only available acoustic files left from the work are of two compositions.
Both compositions are made from one tone - imitating the unseen-energy-territory Skorrari heard in the cries of passerine and non-passerine species.
In Skorrari's notes on these specific compositions, the reflective quality of the sound of cries being made by individual specimens ― often deep,
rolling and longing trumpet sounds ― are described as sounds that are meant to reverberate, resonate and expand the space they are are sent out to.
